BECI Inc. led team is awarded BOPA Free Fall Baltimore 2006 Grant

BECI Inc., WIDACA Inc. and Coppin State University collaborate to receive BOPA Free Fall Baltimore 2006 Grant.

July 14, 2006 Baltimore, MD -- Baltimore Education and Cultural Institute Inc. (BECI), the West Indian Dance and Cultural Association of Maryland (WIDACA) and Coppin State University Fine and Communication Arts Department (CSU) collaborate to present a new cultural arts program series to begin in October.  Highlighting the cultural arts of the Island nation of Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean, the team will present a Caribbean Cultural Celebration Series at four community performance/dance workshops around the city.  Each event is open free to the public.

On Friday July 14, 2006, the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts (BOPA) announced that this newly formed BECI Inc. led team was selected during a competitive selection process to receive a Free Fall Baltimore Grant.  The team hired Trueheart Investment and Management (TIM LCC), a management consulting firm to assist in the grant application process and with the news of the successful award, the consulting firm will assist in planning and execution of this new cultural arts program series. 

Caribbean themed artists, vendors, musicians and performers should stay tuned for opportunities to participate in the 1st Annual Caribbean Cultural Celebration Series.  CSU will mark the month of November as Caribbean Arts Month at the University and numerous Caribbean themed activities and visual art exhibits are planned.
