The Baltimore Education and Cultural Institute, Inc. presents its 1st annual Youth Talent Showcase (YTS) scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Reedbird Park in Cherry Hill, Baltimore, Maryland. The YTS provides a venue for Baltimore’s youth to show off their creative talents. Auditions will be held Saturday, June 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at a location to be announced. Talented Baltimore youth age 5 to 18 may audition in the following performance categories: instrumental, dancing, singing, rapping, comedy, drama, and poetry. Top auditioned acts will be selected to perform at the BECI - 1st annual Youth Talent Showcase. ELIGIBILITY: Baltimore area Youth ages 5 – 18 may apply. YTS organizers are committed to providing a fun and non-competitive forum for the encouragement, development, and discovery of young amateur entertainers. Performances must be original and authentic, and all types of talent are encouraged. APPLICATION PROCESS & DEADLINE: NO APPLICATION FEE. Submit completed application with audition audio or videotape, photographs, complete description of talent no later than Monday, June 22, 2009. Limited stage times, unfortunately means that all applicants cannot be accepted, so AUDITIONS will be scheduled for June 27, 2009. SHOWCASE INVITATIONS: If selected, detailed information will be provided to invited performers regarding location, date and time of performances. Final performance invitations from the YTS will begin on July 1, 2009. All acts/performances should be no more than 5 minutes and family-friendly for an audience of all ages. Adult content, language or situations must be avoided. Singing along with a professional performer on CD or tape is discouraged. SHOWCASE PRIZES: This is a non-competitive event. Performers will receive recognition for participation and citizenship. Professionals will be on hand to provide mentoring and networking assistance for all interested participants. A panel of professional artists and performers will be assembled in a 90 minute panel discussion prior to the showcase at 11:00am on July 12, 2009 to answer participant questions. |
